Mommy's Christmas Present = Fun For All!

About two day's into my birth mother's visit, our dishwasher breaks down. Not good when I'm wanting to impress my Mama. But being the sweet lady she is, she took it upon herself to be the official house dishwasher. (Can you see another reason why I was so sad when she left? LOL!) We barely ever saw a dish on the counter, in the sink, on the table, anywhere! So the pain of not having a dishwasher wasn't really felt until Mama left. Wow! Talk about getting hit with a brick wall of reality! But we decided to fight the urge to hit Home Depot and see how we could do without it. So we struggled for about two weeks without a dishwasher, before we threw up our hands and decided it just wasn't going to work for us.

N took it upon himself to do all the research, as I wasn't really that picky. I just wanted something white. Within a few days, he found the perfect one! Merry Christmas to Mommy! Woohoo! But I had NO IDEA how much the whole family would love and benefit from the purchase.

Here is Monkey helping Daddy take out the old decrepit appliance from 1969. Can you say Harvest Gold? Matches our Mary Kay pink countertops.

Here is Monkey celebrating with De-Da on the installation of Mommy's present. I can honestly say, there isn't anyone that can hold a candle to De-Da in Monkey's eyes. He LOVES this man!

Here is Monkey with his new toy...the dishwasher box. This was a bigger hit than MOST of his Christmas toys. He plays with this thing every day and doesn't ever get bored with it. How sad is that? We could have saved all that Christmas money! Live and learn.

LOL! So I should just get Baby F a bunch of cardboard boxes from Costco! =) I remember playing with cardboard boxes... come to think of it, that was just a couple years ago...no seriously! After Jon set up his drums in OUR living room, I remember playing in the box for kicks. The boys taped me up in it and I had to bust out! LOL!!! Doesn't take much to amuse me. ;)

We learned a LOOOONNNNG time ago that the box that the "thing" comes in is usually the real toy. Why we continue to purchase real toys, I don't know. (Although boxes have a lifespan of a gnat around here. Boxes get flattened pretty quickly when 3 kids get in one and then wrestle!)

Oooh...I'm always on the lookout for a washer/dryer box. Kids love those big ole boxes.

And I'm jealous about the cool new dishwasher.

Oh, and is JK's onesie buttoned outside the pants??? Classic!!!!

Leslie, it's not even buttoned. We just left it unbuttoned outside of his britches. The kid is built like his daddy...VERY long waisted. I just need to take the onesies out of his wardrobe. None of them fit his long torso without him fussing about it. LOL!

It is amazing how much money we all waste on toys when a cardboard box or pots/pan are alot more exciting :)

That last pic of him is precious!!!

I totally get the unbuttonable onsies. Zane was always that way. And I still can't understand why they make onsies for any child over about a year old!

Love it! Thus the reason that we actually bought our monkey very few actual gifts for Christmas. Of course, what he enjoys even more than the boxes is playing with our various kitchen appliances that he's been able to....well...take out of commission:-)

As to the clothes...check this out. Might be too late to be useful, but you just never know!

KareBear, I actually have some of those, but the snaps aren't really "universal". They don't snap to everything. So it's mostly t-shirts from here on out. No more onesies. :-S Yet, another reminder that my baby is no longer a baby. *sniff*
